Steven Larky

Board Vice Chair

After viewing Free To Thrive’s Starfish video dramatizing a human trafficking survivor’s journey, Steven Larky was captivated by their mission and driven to connect with the organization. His goal as a board member is to deploy his engineering and problem-solving expertise in an area that will have a direct impact on the lives of those who are less fortunate. He views Free to Thrive in the context of the social justice movement and, by getting involved, he is able to fulfill the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam – repairing the world.

Always interested in broad business concepts, Steven particularly relishes his involvement with NuFund Venture Group, including the due diligence process where he puts his analytical skills to good use. He also enjoys being an Educational Counselor for MIT, interviewing students locally each year, and President of the MIT Club of San Diego.

Steven has been active in fundraising for MIT, serving as the Chair of the MIT Annual Giving Board and has been recognized with the Henry B. Kane ’24 award for his fundraising efforts.  He is an avid cyclist for fun and fundraising and has been a Cure Champion in the NPF Cycle ride multiple times, as well as a yellow jersey and MVP level participant in the Padres Pedal Ride.

Steven graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a degree in Electrical Engineering and has 41 issued US patents in hardware, systems, and software engineering from his 35 years of working in the semiconductor industry.
